Wildlife & Birdcare Nature Recovery Project

A few weeks ago I visited the Wildlife & Birdcare Nature Recovery Project CIC in Stoke-on-Trent set up by Sammy Holman. Working in partnership with stakeholders including garden centres, wildlife trusts and other charities, Wildlife & Birdcare are making in the UK from sustainably sourced materials a charming range of bug hotels, bird boxes, hedgehog homes and other wildlife products to specifications agreed with conservation groups. All whilst providing work opportunities for people with learning disabilities and those with diverse needs. Teaching skills including woodwork, horticulture and gardening, since the end of 2021 they have expanded from 3 to 10 full-time employees and 16 young adult volunteers.
They have ambitious plans and using the philanthropic loan model I am helping this great project expand, initially helping with cash flow so that they can fulfil the orders now flowing in. They are also helping me by sharing my Gardening for nature recovery pledge which you can read here.
